Welcome to my sketchbook ! This is my sketchbook with 39 samples of my recent work from this past year and from when I began to paint and draw in the eighties. I mix contemporary art with poetry and technology in the form of art books, murals, art prints and interactive projects. The subjects in this collection of small drawings range from dance, urban photography, magnified and coloured flowers, French decorations, and reflection and sea photography. The medium for these images range from paint, watercolour, chalk drawings, digital photography, fabric paint and pencil crayons on different surfaces. I am using more multimedia in my art than I ever did in my art training because I post a lot of art online in my main webpage and for my blog at www.susanaroque.com. I really enjoyed integrating photography with drawing and colouring in this sketchbook. I have put art pieces from an interactive story called the Lighthouse the Bird and the Poem on the Shore, my recent art work. I also have some photography from a poetry and art book called Inverness Street which I hope that you will enjoy. I have some Central American art work in some of the pieces with the brighest colours. Undoubtedly, the culture of Latin America, El Salvador in particular, has influenced a lot of these drawings. My time with in the Mayan markets, towns and land in Guatemala and the rest of Central America influenced the tone and shapes of a lot of my art, as you will see. I included drawings from my training in Laval University and Emily Carr University. There is an exercise I did in class with charcoal and a lot of paper where I had to take one of my favourite objects and make it abstract. I hope you will like it. There is another exercise with charcoal in Quebec, where I used charcoal and bread on carton, which I really enjoyed making which I hope you will take the time to look at. Learning to draw there was well worth my trip at -35 degrees celsius ! The digital art with flowers and images of the sea or any images that are in an art book are some of the most recent pieces. All the images are titled, with the medium and size underneath. I hope you enjoy looking at this collection of images. Sincerely, Susana Roquep.s. I have an artist blog at www.susanaroque.com

One day, as I was restacking my ever growing mountain of sketchbooks and papers packed full of tiny motifs, I realized that there will never be enough hours in the day to refine each one into polished line work and carefully balanced patterns. The rough sketches accumulate too fast - in notebooks, on the backs of envelopes, everywhere!I found myself growing increasingly unsettled until a conversation with my mother made everything crystal clear. She suggested that I make a series of books from all of these special little snippets and unpolished gems and share them as a behind the scenes peek into my private daily drawing through the years.I invite you to color along with me as I sort through sketchbook mountain and place these moments, fragments and doodles into mini galleries for us to enjoy. And while you color this set of motifs, I'll be busily tidying up my giant stash of small drawings - and creating new ones too, of course. Will I ever get caught up with all of this? Probably not, but it's going to be fun trying!

This practical resource demonstrates how all clinicians can broaden and enhance their work with children by integrating drawing into therapy. The book enables therapists to address the multidimensional aspects of children's art without resorting to simplistic explanations. Approaching drawing as a springboard for communication and change, Malchiodi offers a wealth of guidelines for understanding the intricate messages embedded in children's drawings and in the art-making process itself. Topics covered include how to assist children in making art, what questions to ask and when, and how to motivate children who are initially resistant to drawing. Assimilating extensive research and clinical experience, the book includes over 100 examples of children's work.

Starting off with the artist's top winning pencil drawings from 2010 through 2012, this autobiography style book allows the reader an opportunity to not only learn the process it took to complete most of his drawings (created between 2008-2013) which are shown within these pages, but offers a personal look into who the artist is as a man. From portraits to figure drawings, David J. Vanderpool shares how simple pencil lines can be used to create masterfully crafted drawings - all while working through obstacles he would later encounter as an artist. Proving that art isn't always about who the artist is, but rather who catches his attention at that moment. Closing with several fan-favorite drawings from his other top selling books, this book offers his most completed works to date. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED: This book contains adult male nudity. NOTICE: This book is not a "how-to book" but rather as one review noted, "An Art Exhibit And Fan Book." The inside pages are not glossy.

In this very personal collection of small drawings, each accompanied by a short poem, artist Sharlet Vaughn Di Giorgio and poet Pietro Mario Di Giorgio share with us some of their innermost thoughts and feelings. Sharlet writes, "When I was a little girl, our family lived in a finished attic above my grandparents. It was during the great depression, back in the Thirties." "My nickname was 'Mutsy', short for 'Cute little Mutt'. I loved to draw rabbits and kittys with very long whiskers. My grandparents thought I was God's gift to art. When I started kindergarten, there were other boys and girls that could draw rabbits and kittys, and many other animals I didn't even know about. This made me upset. I am still upset " "My parents saved my little drawings in a shoebox. Through the years, the collection grew. Unfortunately, many were destroyed in a basement flood. I now keep my drawings and doodles in a metal biscuit box, where they are safe. I want to share some with you." "My husband Pete is a poet. In addition to his published poetry, he has a special file labeled 'Thought Seeds'. These are small aphorisms he wrote for a book called 'Nuggets In A Brook'. I coaxed Pete to put a few in my book, and so, here they are-Doodles & Aphorisms. The images and the 'Seeds' are in no particular order. They are just there, and that makes me happy."
