How To Create The Wob Hairstyle

ESC Bent Hair Tutorial Images Jenna Williams for E!

The newest hair trend just so happens to be fast and easy to do. Yes, we're talking about the bent lob—the wavy bob's sleeker cousin.

The bent lob has been ruling the runway and red carpet lately. Celebrities like Kate Mara, Taylor Swift and BeyoncĂ© are fans of the hip 'do, which is categorized by a few sharp directional changes in the hair, rather than softer waves.

Luckily, you don't need celebrity stylists to help you out on this one, because we've got the tips to help you wob along all on your own.

First, shower and proceed with your hair care routine as usual and don't forget any thermal-protecting products.

Throw in some mousse so that your hair will have the grip it needs to help hold the curls. Blow it dry so that it has a straight foundation to begin the style.

We've been seeing this hair with a deep side-part, which adds to the effortless feel that the look exudes. So take the pointy end of a comb, make your part and let's begin.

On the heavier side of the part, horizontally section the hair off by three.

Using a one-inch or thicker curling iron, curl the lowest section away from the face. Move to the above area and curl it toward the face and then finally, curl the top part, once again, away from the face. This method helps to create the perfect amount of volume.

The trick with this look is to only wrap the hair around your iron once or twice and to leave the tips un-curled. You can just drag the iron down through the rest of the hair in order to flatten the tips.

If it takes you awhile to master the art of the drag down and you find yourself curling an end or two, try using a flat iron on the end. You could try to flatten it with the curling iron but might run the risk of creating a crimp in the hair.

Begin the same process on the other side but only make two sections, as opposed to three, unless your hair is super thick.

Hair is moldable when it's warm, so wait until it has cooled before moving on to the next step to avoid ruining the effect that you're going for.

Cool? Now start scrunching it into place to help break up the curls. Here's where you can get into the hair with a little texturizing spray or dry shampoo at the roots to bump up the volume. Comb it out with your fingers to help get any rogue waves uniformed.

Now here's a little somethin'-somethin' you can try when you don't have a moldable hairspray or want complete control over your product application. This is a trick that is often used on shoot sets to help tame flyaways in a snap.

Simply spray on a little hairspray your hand.

Then lightly smooth down any flyaways without taking away any of the movement of the hair. Don't put too much pressure onto the hair; only focus on patting down the frizzies.

C'est tout, ladies! After your hair is dry, this style should only take you 15 minutes or less, making it one of the most simple trends of the season!
