Dear GoCPS Applicant Families,

As you know, high school results were released on April 30th. If you are still unable to access your GoCPS account, contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060, weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm, from a phone number on your account, or email gocps@cps.edu.

Accepting or Declining Offers
Families have until Friday, May 14, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., to accept or decline offers online. Families who applied via paper can accept/decline offers via their online GoCPS account or by calling the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060, weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm, from a phone number on the account. Any offers not accepted by the designated deadline will be automatically lost.

Waitlist Process
On May 17, 2021, the Round 1 waitlist process opens, and schools with additional seats will begin reaching out to families of waitlisted students. When a waitlist offer is available, the school will contact the family directly. The following business day, the family will receive a communication notifying them that there has been a change to their waitlist status and instructing them to log in to their account; the waitlist offer expires 48 business hours after the family receives this communication. Waitlist numbers are updated on the GoCPS accounts once a week.

Second Round
If you are not satisfied with your first-round offer, did not receive a first-round offer, or did not participate in the first round, you can submit an application for the second round. The second round only consists of schools/programs that still have seats available. Your child does not have to decline a first-round offer in order to apply in the second round. HOWEVER, if your child submits a second-round application and receives a second-round offer, they will automatically lose their first-round offer. Because of this, you are advised to apply in the second round ONLY if you would like to attend a potential second-round school/program more than the first-round offer your child received.

The second round will open on May 17, 2021, and end on May 21, 2021. Results will be released on June 18, 2021.

CPS ID Request
If your child attends a non-CPS school and did not apply to schools/programs in the first round, you will need to request a CPS ID number in order to create a GoCPS account. Visit go.cps.edu and click 'High School' and 'CPS ID Request.' Your child's CPS ID number will be emailed to you.

Principal Discretion
The Principal Discretion process allows Selective Enrollment process to fill a designated number of seats, based on information process provided through Application Packages submitted by students. To access the Principal Discretion process and FAQs, click here. Only students who applied and tested for Selective Enrollment High Schools can apply for Principal Discretion. Students can only apply to one Selective Enrollment school, and it must be a school that was listed on their first-round application. Please note that there is no guarantee that students will receive an offer through this process, but it does give them a final opportunity to be considered.

The Principal Discretion application period closes on May 19th at 11:59 pm. Application Packages are submitted online. If you are unable to submit your materials online, contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060, weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm, or email gocps@cps.edu.
